Workshops

Kelly has been sharing her message about how to build more positive patient and provider relationships with hospitals since 2005. One of Kelly's daughters was diagnosed with a life-threatening preemie disease at only nine days old. By working with the hospital staff in a collaborative manner, her daughter is alive today. Through hands on exercises, personal experience and teachable frameworks, Kelly empowers medical professionals to take action in creating family-centered care programs.

Invite Kelly to train your nurses, doctors and other team members how to create Patient and Provider Relationships that Work! This four-hour workshop is full of simple techniques that can be implemented immediately at bedside. Kelly also offers three short training programs to inspire medical staff how to help patients improve participation in their own care, i.e., health literacy, how to increase the patient and provider collaboration efforts, and a system parents/patients can use to bond with their hospitalized baby/relative.

"The feedback I receive from these new graduate nurses is how helpful it was to hear what Kelly and Dave had to say about keeping parents in the loop, using lay terms, and letting parents be involved as much as they are able in the care of their precious babies. Some of the nurses said, 'I just didn't know how parents felt.' I will continue to invite Kelly and Dave for as long as they are willing to come."
-Mary Utley, BSN, RN,
Banner Children's Hospital at Banner Desert Medical Center, NICU

Nurses and nursing students provide the key to helping patients learn how to take action and improve their healthy literacy. Better informed patients make better informed decisions with their healthcare provider. This topic is great for practicing medical professionals, medical students, civic organizations, and student groups.
